Road Trips

When was the last time you took a road trip?  Was it last weekend, was it last month, was it last year?

A road trip is one of those wonderful and simple ways to get away and connect within.  Many of us spend so much time planning our life and loose the element of spontaneity along the way.

I had the fortune of being able to take my kids to San Diego right before school started. My husband was very busy at work and I had 5 days before the kids were going to start the school routine so I packed overnight bags, piled everyone into  the car and hit the road. We stopped at gas stations to fill our tank and get special treats. We went sight seeing when the kids pointed out something off the road they found to be interesting. We took detours and got lost and found over and over. It was pure delight and freedom.

I invite you to consider the joy of just getting in the car and driving to see where you end up. Maybe you have an end destination in mind and maybe you simpy drive until you find the most interesting spot. Either way the freedom and joy it can bring can help you tap into a child-like ease and playfullness that I personally crave.

Have fun road tripping and don’t forget to the roll the windows down and let the wind flow through your hair!

Are you having fun yet?
